First turf ceremony

Digger cutting the trench The “First Turf” ceremony was held on 14th February at Langford for the new Large Animal Surgical Suite to be known as the Alborada Building.   Chairman of the Langford Trust Sir David Wills welcomed guests to the ceremony and Mr Miles Littlewort, on behalf of the Alboroada Trust, cut the First Turf.  The ceremony was followed by a tour of the current equine facilities, three extremely interesting presentations about the work of the Veterinary School and an address from the Head of School.

The new state-of-the art surgical facility for the treatment of sick horses and farm animals, will be unique to the region and will provide the best possible medical and surgical treament for all patients. The new facility will also provide space for teaching advanced clinical techniques to an increasing number of undergraduate and postgraduate students.

This exciting event is a great milestone for both the Langford Trust and The  University of Bristol Veterinary School.
